Most Chicago homicides don't have a name or even a face to them, but the 42nd victim most certainly did. The name is Hadiya Pendleton, fifteen year old honor student at Martin Luther King College Prep. The world now knows of her...As a volleyball player and a majorette in the band, Hadiya just recently had returned from President Obama's inauguration, where she performed with the high school band. Hadiya, having taken refuge from the rain, was hit in the back as her and other teens tried to flee. This all took place a block from the President's house might I add...There were over 500 murders in chicago last year. As I write this the number is now at 48 murders for the year, chicagoans are bracing themselves for another year of high murder rates. Two suspects are now being questioned, but nothing brings Hadiya and this year's 47th other victims back, not visits from the mayor, not visits from the first lady...
